Google takes Apple's rival as the main man of the iPhone

Manu Gulati was a micro-architect of Apple who just changed his Google employer to LinkedIn. This may mean that important changes are coming to Pixel devices in the coming years.

By adding such a specialist on the board, Google is thinking about developing its SoC or looking at new ways to improve how the current devices work.

Google does not yet have a company processor - Pixel Google works with Qualcomm Snapdragon and Nest's home automation system uses a chip from Texas Instruments.

Currently, Qualcomm and Mediatek are the leading chip chipsets for smartphones. Huawei, Samsung and Apple also have their own series in SoC and recently joined by Xiaomi with their Pinecone S1. Only time will tell if Google will join the processor function.
